NAVpilot-1000 OFFERS SEVERAL USEFUL MODES
Standby Mode
Standby (STBY) mode is the manual steering mode.
AUTO Mode and Advanced AUTO Mode
AUTO mode keeps the vessel on a set heading but does not compensate for the effects of wind, current, or waves. When needed, Advanced AUTO mode can be used to compensate for these factors. The pilot calculates the course based on position and heading. It sets an imaginary waypoint to steer toward, so that when wind, current, or waves push the vessel off course, the pilot adjusts the heading accordingly to maintain the intended course.
Two options, "Standard" and "Precision," allow you to decide how strictly the pilot should maintain the course. Use "Precision" for the tightest course keeping.
Advanced AUTO mode requires position data from a GPS or similar equipment. NAVpilot-1000 is well-suited for integration with the Furuno GPS GP-170 or the Furuno Satellite Compass SC-70.
NAV Mode
NAV mode is a non-IMO mode that can be used to follow a sequence of waypoints.

TURN Mode
TURN mode with two pre-programmed turn patterns makes it easier to perform patterns, for example during ROV operations or SAR (Search and Rescue) missions.
The NAVpilot-1000 can store two pre-programmed turn types: Turn 1 and Turn 2. These are easily activated via dedicated control buttons. Upon activation, you can also adjust direction (port/starboard) and turn angle before starting the maneuver. TURN mode is available in STBY, AUTO, and NAV modes.

AUTO Tune
Auto Tune simplifies the adjustment of various steering parameters. During Auto Tuning, the vessel will navigate in a zigzag pattern based on a preset heading, while rudder gain, counter rudder, and turn rate are automatically adjusted to best suit the vessel's handling characteristics. The function can also utilize a self-learning feature* that continuously adjusts parameters such as rudder ratio, counter rudder, and auto trim gain. When this feature is active, the pilot is continuously optimized based on operational history.
*The self-learning feature is available for vessels up to 25 meters (85 ft) in length.
During Auto Tuning, the vessel will sail in a zigzag pattern based on a preset heading, while rudder gain, counter rudder, and turn rate are automatically adjusted for optimal adaptation to the vessel’s characteristics.
