Maritime surveillance with Coastal Monitoring

The requirements for preparedness and security within coastal, installation and port surveillance have changed significantly in recent years. At this year’s ONS, we are therefore presenting our Coastal Monitoring solutions, where advanced radar technology is integrated into a feature-rich platform that brings together data from multiple sensors. Typical installations combine electronic charts, multiple types of radar and advanced cameras with daylight, low-light and thermal imaging capabilities.

As requirements for maritime security and preparedness continue to increase, the latest version of the solution has been further enhanced with greater automation, intelligent alerting and flexible zoning of monitored areas. The solution can accommodate different security levels and be adapted to a wide range of applications, from smaller ports to extensive coastal and offshore installation areas.

Advanced traffic management features make it possible to distinguish between authorised, unauthorised and unexpected traffic, while providing operators with relevant alerts and decision support based on the applicable security level and operational procedures. The result is enhanced situational awareness, more efficient use of resources and a stronger basis for managing both planned operations and unexpected incidents.

Camera - an essential tool on the bridge

A high-quality camera has become increasingly important, particularly for offshore vessels operating in challenging weather, light and sea conditions. At ONS, we are showcasing camera solutions from Current Corp., including Night Navigator as an example of how an HD daylight camera, low-light technology and thermal imaging can be combined in a single gyro-stabilised platform.

For the offshore fleet, this is first and foremost about enhanced situational awareness and safety. During operations such as supply, emergency response, inspection, anchor handling or work close to installations, the camera provides a stabilised view of the vessel’s surroundings – even when visibility and light conditions are challenging. The thermal camera helps detect vessels, obstacles and people in the water in darkness or reduced visibility, while the HD camera provides sharp images and powerful zoom in daylight.

Advanced gyro-stabilisation ensures a clear image even in heavy seas, reducing operator workload and providing better decision support on the bridge.

Intuitive workflows and simplified system operation

Furuno offers a wide range of solutions for modern bridges – from radar, ECDIS and navigation to display management, system integration and digital services. At ONS, we are showcasing BlueBridge™ Comply, a type-approved solution for centralised display management and system control. With flexible information presentation, one-click operating modes and centralised control, the solution supports efficient bridge teamwork and a more streamlined working environment.

We are also demonstrating TELSCOPE Electronic Logbooks, a DNV type-approved platform that brings all required SOLAS and MARPOL logbooks together in a single solution. Through automated logging, integration with the vessel’s systems and efficient collaboration between ship and shore, the solution reduces administrative workload while improving the quality and traceability of documentation.
