Load sharing is done seamlessly across available carriers according to the customer's specification for desired capacity and utilization. Centralization is key for effective cyber threat mitigation and for optimizing bandwidth usage in terms of both response time and cost. The solution also includes secure remote access setup—both for communication systems and mission-critical onboard infrastructure.

The Furuno Web Portal provides clear insight into the status and usage of your satellite carriers. With the arrival of Starlink and other commercial LEO (Low Earth Orbit) satellite systems, we’ve expanded our solution to meet the growing need for centralized management, service visibility, and cost control.
Furuno Web Portal offers insight into:
- Coverage maps - shows vessel location and satellite coverage in the area
- Network status - real-time overview of available carriers and traffic patterns
- Usage analysis - consumption across carriers and in relation to quotas
- Overage alerts - warning at 80% of quota usage to avoid unwanted overconsumption
SEAMLESS TRAFFIC LOAD BALANCING
Access to Starlink through Furuno MultiBox
Integration of Starlink and other LEO satellite solutions requires no additional hardware beyond the antenna for each system. These can connect directly to Furuno MultiBox, which then centralizes carrier management and ensures optimal utilization of available bandwidth.
- Dynamic load balancing - delivers stable internet access with optimal response time for systems and individual users
- Automatic failover - the solution detects connection loss on any carrier and automatically reroutes traffic to other active links. Load balancing resumes once the original carrier is restored
- Flexible routing - from all local networks across all available carriers, or according to customer-specific load distribution and traffic rules
- VoWiFi support - enables WiFi-based calling over Norwegian networks
RELIABLE AND ROBUST
- Effective protection against cyber threats - Furuno SafeComNet blocks potentially harmful traffic and secures mission-critical systems from known types of attacks. Our security solutions are continuously updated to handle new threats
- Prevent unwanted bandwidth usage - Furuno MultiBox features customized filters and rules to optimize overall bandwidth usage, while also blocking access to unwanted websites and applications
- Detect abnormal traffic patterns - uptime and traffic flow are monitored per carrier for both inbound and outbound traffic. If anomalies occur, they are investigated and corrected to restore normal operation
- Remote access and support - Furuno MultiBox includes secure firewall-based remote access managed by Furuno, for both system communication and support. Access can also be configured to allow third-party vendors to reach their systems remotely
FURUNO SERVICE
Our service center monitors customer internet connections around the clock. If irregularities occur, we take immediate action to ensure optimal uptime and maximize the use of available bandwidth.
We offer onboard service locally
Our service center handles inquiries from vessels in case of issues. If hardware repair or replacement is needed, we coordinate onboard service.
In Norway, we utilize our dealer network. We are well-represented along the Norwegian coast, for fast and efficient local service.
For vessels on international voyages, we coordinate service through our global service network to provide fast and effective support from the nearest service station.
